• Shoplifting – On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at 2:41 p.m., Officers Frederick Anderson and Jesse Dalziel responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 21-year-old Steven Koc of Vine Street in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $9.97. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Steven Koc was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.
  • DUI ArrestOn Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 9:50 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the Wawa, located at 444 Route 9 South in Forked River, for a report of an intoxicated driver. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old James R. Smith of Buena Vista Road in Forked River, for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James R. Smith was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving and Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Shoplifting – On Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 1:41 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a shoplifter who had fled the building with merchandise. Investigation at the scene revealed that the Walmart Asset Protection Associate observed an unknown adult male at 1:25 p.m. remove merchandise valued at $107.26 and conceal it in a bag. He followed the subject and confronted him at the front entrance of the store as he was leaving with the bag of merchandise. The subject stated, “You can’t touch me” and then fled the scene on foot running north through the Lacey Used Auto rear parking lot. The suspect was described as a white male in his early 30’s with a beard, weighing approximately 150 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black leather coat and light blue jeans. A search for the suspect was concluded with negative results. The incident is under investigation.
  • Theft (Residence) – On Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 1:30 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy responded to the 600 block of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River, for a report of stolen jewelry from the residence. The victim reported that the items were last seen on August 19, 2016.  The stolen items are as follows: 10k Gold Hoop Earrings valued at $100; Severed Gold Ring with initial “T” curve side lettering valued at $240; Six (6) string gold necklace (weave with claw clasp) valued at $1,500; Emerald and diamond hoop earrings valued at $2,100; Gold ankle bracelet (square link) valued at $300; and a blue sapphire ring (marquis stone) valued at $150; for a total value of $4,390. The incident under investigation.
  • Drug and Warrant Arrest – On Friday, December 2, 2016, at 9:51 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Anthony Sarno responded to the McDonald’s, located at 404 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of drug activity. Upon arrival, they were informed that the suspects were leaving in a blue sedan. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and an investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 45-year-old Joseph D. Negra of Central Avenue in Island Heights, New Jersey, for Possession of CDS. In addition, Joseph Negra had an outstanding Toms River Township Municipal Court warrant with bail in the amount of $750. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Joseph Negra was charged on a criminal warrant with Possession of CDS and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail, including the Toms River Township Municipal Court warrant.
  • Theft (Residence) – On Friday, December 2, 2016, at 6:02 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 700 block of Drexel Road in Lanoka Harbor for a report of stolen jewelry. The victim reported that while having work done at her house, she notice a 14k flat gold necklace valued at $2,500.00 missing.  The victim provided the name of a suspect and the matter remains under investigation.
  • DUI Arrest – On Friday, December 2, 2016, at 7:43 a.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 800 block of Alpine Street in Forked River for a possible dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 45-year-old Michelle J. Devlin, of Alpine Street in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Michelle J. Devlin was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
  • Warrant Arrest (Multiple) – On Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 9:51 p.m., Officers Anthony Sarno and Julie Barcalow responded to the 1200 block of Taylor Lane in Forked River for a report that there was a male adult who was wanted on several outstanding warrants staying on the back porch of the residence. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 28-year-old Alan M. Hill of Taylor Lane in Forked River, on the following warrants: (1) Stafford Township Municipal Court with $15,000 full bail; (2) Lacey Township Municipal Court with $5,000 full bail; (3) Mays Landing (Hamilton Township) with $500 full bail; and (4) Galloway Township Municipal Court with $350 bail.  Alan M. Hill was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was later turned over to the custody of the Stafford Township Police Department.
  • Shoplifting – On Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 2:07 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to Kohl’s, located at 304 North Main Street in Forked River, for a report of a shoplifting. Investigation at the scene revealed that the Asset Protection Associate was reviewing surveillance footage from the prior day and discovered that a white adult male had taken three (3) Fit Bit Charge 2 items from the display and exited the store without paying for them. The items are valued at $149.99 each, for a total of $449.97. Further investigation identified the subject as 28-year-old Alan M. Hill of Taylor Lane in Forked River.  An arrest warrant was issued for him with bail set at $5,000 full.
  • Criminal Trespass (Motor Vehicle) – On Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 6:33 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the Land of Oz Nursery School, located at 117 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of an individual sleeping in the caller’s vehicle. Investigation at the scene revealed that the complainant, who lives above the nursery school, had parked his vehicle in the front parking lot and when he woke up that morning to move his vehicle, he found a younger male with blonde hair, a backpack and skateboard, sleeping across the back seat. When the complainant confronted the subject, he exited the vehicle and walked towards the rail trail. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.  The area was checked for the subject with negative results.
