  • Suspicious Incident(s) – At 2:04 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, Officer Androcy, along with Officer Verwey, responded to Bayside East Parkway in Forked River for a report of male wearing jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt (no further description) that had opened the door of a vehicle which was parked in the driveway. The homeowner said that she banged on the window of her home from inside and was able to get the male’s attention. Once she exited her home and yelled to him that she was calling the police, he reportedly ran west toward Constitution Drive. She determined that nothing was taken from her vehicle. A search of the area was conducted by responding officers and the male was not located. While Officer Androcy was driving to the location of the initial call, he discovered a work van on Independence Drive with its rear doors open. Officer Androcy was unable to determine if anything was stolen from the van, as efforts to make contact with anyone inside the residence where the work van was parked were unsuccessful. The matter is under continuing investigation.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Sunday, December 14, 2014, at 1:53 p.m., Officer John D. Simonson and Frederick Anderson responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 South in Forked River, for two adult shoplifters in custody. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 20-year-old Christina Hurt of Central Avenue in Waretown, NJ for shoplifting merchandise valued at approximately $65. In addition, an adult male she was with, identified as 21-year-old Joseph Clark of Central Avenue in Waretown, NJ was also arrested for shoplifting. They were both processed and released after receiving criminal summonses for Shoplifting.

  • Theft – On Sunday, December 14, 2014, at 10:46 a.m., Officer John D. Simonson responded to Hill Top Court for a report of a theft. The complainant reported that during the overnight hours of Saturday, December 13, 2014 into Sunday, December 14, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole a spare Bridgestone tire and rim that was mounted to the rear of her Jeep. The value of the stolen tire and rim is estimated at $250.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 4:32 a.m. Officer Evan Androcy responded to the New Jersey Transit Bus Stop located at Route 9 and Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor for a report of a suspicious male subject. The caller reported that he observed a male subject peering into vehicles at his neighbor’s house and then observed him walk to the bus stop. A description was provided by the caller. Upon arrival, the male subject was located and identified as 18-year-old Jacob Rodriguez of Egret Court in Tuckerton, NJ. Investigation at the scene led to his arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jacob Rodriguez was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  • Resisting Arrest and Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 3:10 a.m., Officer George Resetar observed three juveniles sitting behind the Wawa located at 700 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor. Due to the late night/early morning hour, Officer Resetar approached the juveniles to check their well-being. Investigation at the scene led to a 14-year-old juvenile male from Forked River being taken into custody for Underage Consumption of Alcohol. After being taken into custody, the 14-year-old male attempted to run away from police custody but was ultimately caught after a foot chase by Officer Evan Androcy. After being caught, the 14-year-old male resisted the officer and attempted to break free from the custody of Officer Androcy. The 14-year-old male was successfully taken into custody and was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was turned over to his mother. The juvenile was charged with Underage Consumption of Alcohol, Hindering apprehension, and Resisting Arrest on juvenile complaints. An additional juvenile, a 15-year-old male from Forked River, was charged with Hindering and Underage Consumption of Alcohol. He was also transported to police headquarters where he was turned over to his parents.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 2:25 p.m., Sergeant Vincent Meehan and Frederick Anderson responded to the Rite Aid parking lot located at 101 Route 9 South in Forked River in regard to suspected CDS activity. The complainant reported that he observed a female inside a vehicle who appeared to be inhaling a substance. The complainant also reported that the female appeared to be semi-conscious. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 26-year-old Sarah Marsh of Route 9 in Forked River for intentionally inhaling a toxic chemical for the purpose of causing a condition of intoxication. Sarah Marsh was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released on a summons. Sarah Marsh was charged with inhaling a toxic chemical for the purpose of causing a condition of intoxication.

  • Eluding-MVA-DUI (Arrest) -On Friday, December 12, 2014, at 9:57 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn was patrolling the area of Deerhead Lake Drive and Lakeside Drive North in Forked River when he observed a motorcyclist pass a stop sign without stopping while traveling onto Deerhead Lake Drive from Lakeside Drive North. Officer Flynn immediately pulled behind the motorcycle and observed that there were no lights and no registration plate on the motorcycle. At that point, Officer Flynn activated his emergency lights intending to initiate a motor vehicle stop. The motorcyclist, later identified as 18-year-old Michael V. Fox-Ricci of Route 9 South in Forked River, immediately increased to a high rate of speed attempting to flee from Officer Flynn’s initial efforts to effect the stop. As the fleeing motorcyclist attempted to pass another vehicle which was in front of him, he lost control of the motorcycle and slid to the pavement. The motorcyclist slid into the wooden guardrail that runs along that portion of Deerhead Lake Drive in the area near the Deerhead Lake. The operator, Michael V. Fox-Ricci, was treated at the scene by Lacey EMS for minor injuries. Michael V. Fox-Ricci refused further medical treatment and transport to the hospital. The investigation at the scene revealed that Michael V. Fox-Ricci had been consuming alcoholic beverages underage. Michael V. Fox-Ricci was placed under arrest for DUI, transported to police headquarters, processed, and issued summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain a Lane, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Unregistered Vehicle, Uninsured Vehicle, Failure to Exhibit Driver’s License, and Maintenance of Lamps (No Tailights). The motorcycle he was driving, a KTM 250 XCW, was neither registered nor insured. Michael Fox-Ricci was also processed on a warrant for 2nd degree criminal offense of Eluding with bail set at $50,000. The motorcycle was impounded. Officer Robert Flynn did not initiate a vehicular pursuit during this incident, as the impaired motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle upon attempting to flee the officer’s initial effort to effect the motor vehicle stop. Michael Fox-Ricci was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

  • Criminal Mischief (Business) – On Friday, December 13, 2014, at 4:52 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to Nikko Asian Bistro located at 208 Route 9 North in Forked River for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that on Saturday, December 13, 2014, an unknown person or persons cut the lock off of the main exterior electrical box and cut the high voltage wire causing the business to lose power. The damage is estimated at $250. The complainant reported seeing a small black pickup truck with garbage cans in the bed near the electrical box during the time in question.

  • Theft (Auto) – On Friday, December 12, 2014, at 2:03 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 800 block of Devon Street in Forked River for a theft report. The complainant reported that between November 21, 2014, and December 12, 2014, an unknown person or persons stole the catalytic converter from her 2000 Honda Civic while it was parked in the driveway. The theft is estimated at $250.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 11:02 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old Christian Jones of Harrison Place in Manchester Township, NJ, on two (2) outstanding warrants. Warrant number one (1) was issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $6,653, and warrant number two (2) was issued by the Toms River Township Municipal Court in the amount of $1,283. Christian Jones was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and later transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Drug Possession (Arrest) – On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 10:09 p.m., Officers Adam Ewart and John McKee responded to the parking lot of Walmart located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of possible drug activity in a vehicle. Upon arrival the officers located the vehicle containing two adult females. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of both occupants who were identified as 19-year-old Cassidy Baier of Veronica Court in Lanoka Harbor and 18-year-old Courtney Desruisseau of Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River for Possession of Marijuana. They were both transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where they were processed and charged. Cassidy Baier was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Courtney Desruisseau was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 8:35 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to a motor vehicle accident on Kennebec Road in which a vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. The caller reported that the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was attempting to leave the scene so neighbors were detaining her and were in need of police assistance. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Catelynn Hagaman of Vaughn Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Catelynn Hagaman for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Catelynn Hagaman was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and issued motor vehicle summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Unlicensed Driver, Suspended Registration, Uninsured Motorist, and Using a Handheld Cell Phone While Driving.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 12:16 a.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lake Barnegat Drive North. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 52-year-old Jacquelin DeRose of Bayville, for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s law. She was processed and issued traffic summonses for DUI and failure to dim headlights.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 2:51 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno conducted a motor vehicle on Trenton Avenue North near Lacey Road and identified the driver as 34-year-old Anthony Rocco of Earie Way in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Anthony Rocco on a $1,000 Colts Neck Municipal Court Traffic Warrant and a $183 Lacey Township Municipal Court Warrant. Anthony Rocco was unable to post bail and was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
