Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local Emergency Services Volunteers will once again be breaking protocol for a good cause. Lacey Township Police Officers, along with members from the Forked River, Lanoka Harbor and Bamber Lakes Fire Departments, the Lacey Township and Lanoka Harbor EMS Squads, the Lacey Township Dive Team, and the Lacey Township Governing Body, will be participating in “No Shave November” to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities.  The initiative will begin on November 1st and conclude on November 30th, 2017.

No-Shave November is a fundraiser in which people put down their razor in order to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. Residents in Lacey Township will find some of their police officers and emergency service personnel to be on the “hairy side” during the month of November. For example, you may see uniformed police officers sporting beards and mustaches, all in the name of fighting cancer.

Funds raised by the “Lacey Township Challenge”  (Lacey Police and Emergency Services) will go to charities including Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   Lacey Township Police and the Emergency Services are not taking donations directly. Donations on behalf of the police officers and the Emergency Services personnel should be made directly to No-Shave.org under the Lacey Township Challenge (see the below links).  Both the Lacey Township Police Department and the Lacey Township Emergency Services have pledged to reach $3000.00 each, for a total donation of $6000.00.

On October 30th, 2017, representatives from each agency will take a before photograph, and then again on December 1st, 2017 for an after photo.

The below photo depicts members of the Lacey Township Police Department and our Local Emergency Services taking the “Before Photo” in the parking lot of the Lacey Township Police Department on the evening of October 30th, 2017. The photo includes Deputy Mayor Nick Juliano, Committeeman Gary Quinn, and Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh.

I want to thank Officer George Resetar for his assistance with this initiative. Additionally, I want to thank all of my police officers and the members of the emergency services for their dedication and assistance with this program. I look forward to this initiative while at the same time “sporting” a full beard during the month of November 2017. At the conclusion of the event, the Lacey Police Department grooming policy will be back in full effect until next year’s No-Shave November.

If anyone has any questions in regard to this initiative you may contact Chief Michael C. DiBella or Officer George Resetar at the Lacey Township Police Department at 609-693-6636.
