Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local Emergency Services Volunteers broke protocol in November for a good cause. Lacey Township Police Officers, along with members from the Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, and Bamber Lakes Fire Departments, the Lacey Township and Lanoka Harbor EMS Squads, and members from the Lacey Township Dive Team, participated in “No Shave November” to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities.  The initiative started, November 1, 2016, and concluded yesterday, November 30, 2016.

No-Shave November is a fundraiser in which people put down their razor in order to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities. During the month of November 2016, residents in Lacey Township found some of their police officers and emergency services personnel to be on the “hairy side.”  Uniformed police officers and Emergency Services personnel were sporting beards and mustaches all in the name of fighting cancer.

Funds raised by the “Lacey Township Challenge”  (Lacey Police and Emergency Services) went to charities including, the American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   Donations on behalf of the police officers and the Emergency Services personnel were made directly to No-Shave.org under the Lacey Township Challenge.  Both the Lacey Township Police Department and the Lacey Township Emergency Services pledged to reach $2500.00 each, for a total donation of $5000.00.

As of November 30, 2016, the No-Shave November “Lacey Township Challenge” had received total donations in the amount of $8289.  I am very honored by the amount of support we received from our community. Needless to say this event was a true success and I am very proud of everyone who was involved.

I want to thank all of my police officers, and the members of our emergency services for their dedication to No-Shave November. Additionally, I would like to thank the Lacey Township Committee, and Administrator Veronica Laureigh for their support.

As of tomorrow the Lacey Township Police Department grooming policy will be back in full effect until next year’s No-Shave November. If anyone has any questions in regard to this initiative you may contact Chief Michael C. DiBella, Detective Michael Eden, or Officer George Resetar at the Lacey Township Police Department at 609-693-6636.
