On Monday, September 5, 2016, at 8:34 p.m., Officers Jason Lee, Anthony Sarno and Julie Barcalow were dispatched to the Lacey McDonald’s located at 404 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor for a report of an unconscious male on the floor of the men’s bathroom. A second dispatch reported that the patient was not breathing. While officers were en-route to the scene, 17-year-old Jordan Rensel, who was also at the Lacey McDonald’s, immediately sprung into action and assessed the male. After determining the male was not breathing, Jordan began CPR and continued doing so until the male began breathing on his own. At this time Officers arrived on scene and continued providing emergency care until the arrival of Lanoka Harbor EMS and paramedics. A short time later the male became conscious and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Last evening, December 22, 2016, Chief Michael C. DiBella and Captain Patrick Ganley presented Jordan Rensel with the 2016 Lacey Township Police Department Civilian Recognition Award for his life saving efforts. Officers Anthony Sarno and Jason Lee, along with the Lanoka Harbor EMS volunteers who took part in the initial call, were in attendance for the ceremony.

Jordan Rensel is an Honorable Eagle Scout with Troop #56 from Lacey Township. He received his Eagle Scout  on December 2nd, 2015, after building an information kiosk at a New Jersey County Park.  That alone is an outstanding achievement. The Lacey Township Police Department and the Governing Body commend Jordan Rensel for his actions and dedication to the citizens of Lacey Township.  We are very proud of Jordan and look forward to interacting with him in the future.
