- Burglary – Residence – On Thursday, November 29, 2016, at 2:46 p.m., Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the 1000 block of South Branch Way in Forked River for a report of a burglary to the residence. The listing agent of the property notified police of the incident and believed that the residence was burglarized sometime between 11/18/2016 thru 11/29/2016. The residence was entered by prying open a side entrance door. The owner of the property was called to the scene and it was determined that nothing was removed from the home. The damage to the door was valued at approximately $50.00.
- DUI Arrest – On Sunday, November 27, 2016, at 10:14 p.m., Officer Charles May conducted a traffic stop on Alpine Street near Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 38-year-old Jennifer R. Bernard of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Exhibit Registration and Failure to Give Proper Signal. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
- Theft – On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 7:33 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the 200 block of John Street in Forked River for a report of a light bar stolen from a vehicle. The victim stated that on November 23, 2016, he noticed his 52 inch “CREE” LED Curved Light Bar, valued at $150.00, was stolen from his 2006 white Dodge Ram that was parked in front of his residence. There is an ongoing investigation involving potential suspects in this theft.
- Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 6:06 p.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella conducted a motor vehicle stop on Penn Avenue South and Alpine Street in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 44-year-old Oscar J. Dillard III of Lakeview Drive South in South Toms River, New Jersey, on an outstanding warrant for DUI out of New Gretna, with a bail amount of $1,000. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released after posting bail. In addition, he was issued a motor vehicle summons for Driving While Suspended.
- Theft from Motor Vehicle – On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 5:23 p.m., Officer Julian Martin observed an unattended maroon Dodge Caravan parked at a stop sign on Dogwood Lane and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River. The owner of the vehicle reported that he ran out of fuel and left his vehicle unlocked while attempting to get help. The keys were removed from the ignition by the time the owner returned to the vehicle. It is unknown who may have removed the keys from the vehicle. The keys are valued at $10.00.
- Theft – On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 11:32 a.m., Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to Eric Plaza located at 336 Lacey Road in Forked River for a report of a stolen camera. The victim advised that he was taking pictures with his Nikon D300 camera at the Ocean County Brazilian Jiu Jitsu building when his camera lens began to “fog up.” He left the camera unattended on the steps of the east side of the plaza outside the Jiu Jitsu building for approximately one minute in order to let the sun resolve the condensation issue in the lens. When he returned, the camera was gone. The camera and lens are valued at $2,500.00.
- Warrant Arrest and Transport – On Friday, November 25, 2016, at 8:47 p.m., Officer Julie Barcalow responded to the Stafford Township Police Department to pick up 37-year-old Andrew S. Zitzner of Adriatic Avenue, Waretown, New Jersey, who was arrested on an outstanding Lacey Township warrant for shoplifting in the amount of $500. He was unable to post bail, processed by Officer Barcalow, and transported to Ocean County Jail.
- Simple Assault – On Friday, November 25, 2016, at 7:18 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Jason Lee responded to the area of Denton Avenue and Leanne Court in Forked River for a report of an assault in progress. A 14-year-old juvenile male, who had visible signs of injury on his face, claimed that while he was riding his bicycle home, he was pushed off and assaulted by an unknown juvenile male. Further investigation identified the suspect as a 16-year-old juvenile male. Juvenile complaints are currently pending against him for Simple Assault.
- Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, November 24, 2016, at 10:25 p.m., Officer Jason Lee responded to the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River for a report of a female harassing the cashier and customers. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 55-year-old Jerilyn M. Wilbert of Browns Mills, New Jersey, on two (2) active warrants out of Pemberton Township; Warrant number one (1) was issued for failure to comply with time payment order, with a bail amount of $119; and Warrant number two (2) was issued for disorderly conduct, with a bail amount of $325. Jerilyn Wilbert was transported to police headquarters and processed. The Pemberton Township Police Department was contacted and notified that she was unable to post bail. They authorized the release of Jerilyn M. Wilbert on her own recognizance with a new court date.
- Burglary – Residence – On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 10:42 a.m., Officer Darrell Nick responded to the 1800 block of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River for a report of the theft of copper from the residence. The property manager of the residence was performing a home inspection on this date and noticed that the copper from the baseboard heaters throughout the entire house was missing, as well as the copper from the crawl space. The residence has been vacant since approximately September 1, 2015. It is unknown when the burglary or theft of the copper occurred. The front door appeared to have been kicked in and windows had been opened at the rear of the residence. The stolen copper is valued at $2,000.
