  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 5:35 p.m., Officers George Resetar and Jesse Dalziel responded to the 200 block of Manchester Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a residential burglary. The victim reported that between 2:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., on August 2, 2016, an unknown person or persons forced entry into the residence and stole jewelry in the amount of $3000. Damage to the residence is estimated at $200. Detective Keith Pearce responded to the scene. The incident is under investigation.
  • Theft – On Monday, August 1, 2016, at 2:14 p.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 500 block of Center Street in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016, and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole two kayaks from a trailer located on the side of their residence. The kayaks were described as 13.5’ Hobie Mirage Paddledrive Ocean Kayaks, one blue and one yellow, valued at $1,599 each. The incident is under investigation.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Monday, August 1, 2016, at 11:33 a.m., Officer Fred Anderson conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Weehawkin Avenue in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 22-year-old Adajee V. Myres of Edgewood Drive in Toms River, NJ, on an outstanding Manchester Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Adajee Myres was released after posting bail.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto/Several) – On Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 6:38 a.m., Officers Michael Hein and Michael Eden responded to a report of a suspicious male in the area of Brookdale Drive and Norwick Drive in Forked River. The complainant reported that the suspicious male was wearing a Halloween mask and looking into parked vehicles. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 23-year-old Jay P. Chirelli of Clubhouse Drive in Forked River, for several car burglaries after he was found to be in possession of stolen property. Jay Chirelli was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was charged with Burglary and Theft of Movable Property with bail set in the amount of $2,500 with no 10 percent. Jay Chirelli was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.  
  • Warrant Arrest – On Friday, July 29, 2016, at 10:42 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Dimitri Tsarnas observed two suspicious males entering the Wawa located at 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of one of the males, identified as 27-year-old Thomas W. Staunton of Lee Way in Forked River, on an outstanding Berkeley Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $350. Thomas Staunton was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was released after his bail was posted.
  • DUI and Drug Arrest – On Friday, July 29, 2016, at 5:23 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the area of Route 9 and Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor for a report of an aggressive driver. The complainant provided a description of the vehicle including the registration. The registration came back to a residence on Oxford Road in Lanoka Harbor. Officer Verwey responded to the residence and located the vehicle and driver. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 39-year-old David Vasil of Oxford Road for Possession of CDS, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. David Vasil was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition he received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 7:43 p.m., Sergeant Sam Della Sala and Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the 900 block of Lakeside Drive North in Forked River for a report of a wanted person (warrant). Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Kyle M. Ranghelli of Lakeside Drive in Forked River, on an outstanding Seaside Heights Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $400. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Kyle Ranghelli was released after bail was posted.
  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 1:11 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 North near Taylor Lane in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 35-year-old James W. Shilling of Seabright Road in Forked River, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $668.00. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. James Shilling received traffic summonses for Driving with a Suspended License, and a Cell Phone Violation. He was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
  • DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 2:27 p.m., Melony S. Gilchrist of Allwood Place in Forked River, responded to police headquarters to pick up her vehicle from her previous DUI arrest, which had occurred earlier in the morning, at 12:15 a.m., on July 27, 2016. While at police headquarters, Melony Gilchrist displayed signs of intoxication. An investigation determined she had driven to police headquarters, and as a result, Officer Darrell Nick conducted a DUI investigation. The investigation resulted in Melony Gilchrist’s arrest for DUI. She was processed at police headquarters and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving.
  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 7:05 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler responded to the 1200 block of Olds Street in Forked River, for a theft report. The victim reported that between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2016, and 7:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered their vehicle and stole a black dell backpack containing an HP ProBook 640 G1, and a yellow construction vest. The vehicle was parked in the driveway during time the theft occurred. There were no signs of forced entry. The total theft is valued at $702.00.
  • DUI Arrest – On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 12:15 a.m., Officer Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop on Lakeside Drive near the intersection of Holly Place in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 34yearold Melony S. Gilchrist of Allwood Place in Forked River, for DUI. She was transported to police headquarters and processed. Melony Gilchrist was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle she was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
