  • Crime Alert (Burglary Arrests) – On Saturday, May 28, 2016, Detective Brian Flynn of the Lacey Township Police Department, in a cooperative investigation with Dsg. Rogalski and Det. Risden of the Ocean Township Police Department, has charged 31-year old Lawrence W. Mann and 36-year-old Shiabon Poff (female), both of 49 Willow Street in Waretown, with Burglary and Theft. The detectives from both agencies executed a search warrant at 49 Willow Street in Waretown on Saturday morning, May 28, 2016, which yielded evidence leading to the arrest of Lawrence W. Mann and Shiabon Poff. The charges out of Lacey Township are from a Tuesday, May 24, 2016, home burglary which occurred at a Tampa Road residence in the Forked River Beach section of Lacey Township during the late evening hours. The homeowner reported that he believed the burglar(s) entered his residence through an unlocked rear window leading into the living room of his home. The items stolen included a Spanish Provincial Sterling Silver flatware set valued at $2,000, two laptop computers, and jewelry. The investigation revealed that, following the burglary, the flatware set was sold on Craigslist to a man from Toms River who subsequently listed the set on EBay. The investigation also revealed that the subjects were utilizing a blue, Ford F150, stepside pickup truck during the different burglaries in each town. Both Lawrence W. Mann and Shiabon Poff were arrested for the burglary and theft charges out of Lacey Township as well as similar offenses committed in Waretown. Lawrence W. Mann was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $20,000 on the Lacey Township charges. The burglaries were solved so quickly in both towns due to the exceptional work by Detective Risden and Dsg. Rogalski of the Ocean Township Police Department and Detective Brian Flynn of the Lacey Township Police Department who worked cooperatively to quickly solve the cases. Timely arrests, such as in this case, have been a major contributing factor in the drastic reduction of home burglaries being committed in Lacey Township to the lowest levels in over 30 years.  Excellent commitment and work by all involved.

  • Criminal Mischief – On Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 9:11 a.m. Officer Noah Schaffer responded to the office of the Pegasus Title Company, 639 Lacey Road in Forked River, for a report of criminal mischief. A caller reported observing a broken window in the rear of the office building. Investigation at the scene indicated that a 2’ x 3’ casement window had been smashed. Evidence at the scene indicated that no one had entered the building through the broken window. The damage to the window is estimated at $300. The owner of the business and the owner of the building were notified.

  • Shoplifting & Warrant Arrest – On Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 10:45 p.m., Officer Andrew Slota responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Associate reported that he observed a female remove various store merchandise from their displays in the store and then place them inside her purse. The female then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 29-year-old Randi Carroll of Sextant Drive in Barnegat, NJ for shoplifting $79.97 worth of merchandise as well as a no-bail Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department warrant. Randi Carroll was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she was processed and then transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility to await the arrival of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Friday, May 27, 2016, at 5:03 p.m., Officer George Resetar responded to Shop Rite in reference to a report of shoplifting. A Loss Prevention employee reported that she observed a male subject in one of the food aisles of the store putting store merchandise in Shop Rite bags that he had with him. The male subject then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 47-year-old John C. Zusack of Spruce Street in Beachwood, NJ for shoplifting $204.19 worth of merchandise. John Zusack was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Shoplifting.

  • Warrant Arrest – On Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 9:27 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to a Nantucket Road residence in Forked River for a report of a dispute. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 53-year-old Reka I. Ash of Glen Oak Drive in Forked River, NJ, on an outstanding Lacey Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250. Reka Ash was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters and processed. Reka Ash was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of the bail.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Thursday, May 26, at 3:03 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to Walmart, 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of shoplifting. The Asset Protection Associates reported that they observed two juvenile females remove several pieces of merchandise from their displays in the store and then concealed those items in their purses. The females then reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. The two juveniles were taken into custody by the Lacey Township Police and then transported to police headquarters where they were turned over to the custody of their parents. One juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint for shoplifting $25.54 worth of merchandise and the other juvenile was charged on a juvenile complaint for shoplifting $16.82 worth of merchandise.

  • Theft – On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 4:57 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to Ocean Beach Marina, 700 Barramore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, for a report of theft. An employee reported that he observed a newer model, white sedan with the trunk and side door open. The employee reported that as he drove up to the vehicle, the driver got into the vehicle and left towards Bay Way. He stated that he went into the woods to investigate and observed an unidentified white male flee through the woods towards Drew Avenue. The employee reported that he observed several stolen items believed to have been left by the subject in the woods, which included a gray plastic Dock Cart, approximately twenty-feet of stainless steel boat railing in a plastic five-gallon bucket, and two Diehard marine batteries. The matter is currently under investigation. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $300.

  • Warrant Arrest & Heroin Possession (Arrest) – On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 7:54 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey and Officer Scott Keefe responded to a Laurel Boulevard residence in Lanoka Harbor on an unrelated call-for-service when the officers discovered a no-bail Ocean County Sheriff’s Department warrant for a resident of the home, 21-year-old Alexandro G. Tsarnas. When officers informed him of the warrant, Alexandro Tsarnas resisted arrest but was quickly brought under control by the officers. A search incident to the arrest led to the discovery of Heroin in the possession of Alexandro Tsarnas. Alexandro Tsarnas was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Heroin. Alexandro Tsarnas was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility on the no-bail warrant.

  • Theft – On Tuesday, May 24, at 1:46 p.m., Officer Brian Holt responded to a Hoyt Street residence in Forked River, NJ for a report of theft. The victim, an employee of MS Electric Contractor, Inc, reported that between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on May 23, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole a generator from a house under construction. The generator was left outside on the east side of the residence at the time of the theft. The generator is described as a Red, Honda IC 3000 generator with a surge protector tied to the handle. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $2,000.
