  • Residential Burglary (Arrest) – On Thursday, November 28, 2013, the Lacey Township Police Department received a report of a residential burglary on Bowline Drive in the Sunrise Beach section of Forked River. On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, after a three-week investigation, Detective Brian Flynn arrested 30-year-old Jeffrey Polyak of Forked River. The Bowline Drive home was forcibly entered by means of a bedroom window being pried open while the residents were not home. Jeffrey Polyak was charged with Burglary as well as Theft of Movable Property ($7,500 worth of jewelry). Jeffrey Polyak was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000.

  • Shoplifting and Warrant (Arrest) – On Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 12:14 a.m., Officers George Resetar and Alan Abrecht responded to the Lacey Walmart, 580 Route 9 N in Lanoka Harbor, for a female shoplifter. Officers arrested 42-year-old Jerri L. Cornine of South Toms River, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $570.99. In addition, three warrants were located for her arrest. The failure-to-appear warrants were as follows: (1) Robbinsville Municipal Court in the amount of $933.00; (2) East Brunswick Municipal Court in the amount of $273.00; and (3) Toms River Municipal Court in the amount of $750.00. Jerri Cornine was transported to headquarters and processed. She was charged with Shoplifting and bail was set at $10,000. Jerri Cornine was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

  • Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 11:06 a.m., a resident of Andover Road (west of the GSP) in Forked River reported a car burglary. The complainant reported that just prior to contacting the police department, they heard a car alarm sounding. Upon checking, they observed that two of their vehicles and been damaged. In addition, property was stolen from both cars. An unknown person or persons forced their way into the first vehicle causing approximately $1,000 in damage. In addition, property valued at $2,000, including an iPad, GPS, and books, were stolen from inside the vehicle. The suspect attempted to force his way into a second vehicle, causing approximately $100 in damage. The second vehicle did not appear to be entered.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at 7:01 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor reported criminal mischief to a vehicle. The complainant reported that between 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, and 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, an unknown person or persons damaged the convertible top on her vehicle, ultimately causing $2,000 in damage. At the time of the report, the complainant did not believe anything was stolen from inside the vehicle.

  • Shoplifting (Arrest) – On Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 12:24 p.m., Officers John Simonson and Keith Pearce, responded to Advance Auto Parts, 218 Route 9 North, in Lanoka Harbor, for a male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene revealed that 42-year-old Dewann Mcallister entered the store, removed items from the packaging, then exited the store and began working on his vehicle in the parking lot. Dewann Mcallister of Forked River was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $30.06. He was transported to headquarters and processed. He was later released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at 2:14 p.m., a resident of the 800 block of Clairmore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor reported a car burglary. The complainant reported that between Tuesday, December 17, 2013, and Wednesday, December 18, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole approximately $300 in cash and change.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Thursday, December 19, 2013, at 1:14 p.m., a resident of the 1500 block of Sommerell Avenue in Forked River reported criminal mischief to construction vehicles and equipment. The complainant reported that between 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, an unknown person or persons committed approximately $1,000 in damage to a backhoe and $750 to a vehicle while they were left at the construction site. The damage to the backhoe consisted of broken windows. The damage to the vehicle included electrical wiring that had been purposely cut.

  • Drug Possession & DUI (Arrest) – On Thursday, December 19, 2013, at approximately 10:31 p.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas arrested 19-year-old Nicholas Brembos of Lanoka Harbor for DUI and Possession of Marijuana after a motor vehicle violation was observed on Lacey Road. Nicholas Brembos was transported to headquarters and processed. He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, he received traffic summonses for DUI, Underage DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 9:54 a.m., a property maintenance company contacted police headquarters regarding a burglary and theft from a home on the 100 block of Beach Boulevard in Forked River. The complainant reported that during the prior three weeks, an unknown person or persons forced entry into the unoccupied residence and stole approximately $6,000 worth of copper piping and wiring.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 11:29 a.m., a complainant called to report criminal mischief to vehicles parked in the area of JT’s Bagel Hut, 918 Lacey Road in Forked River. The complainant reported that between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on December 20, 2013, an unknown person or persons broke the rear window of a vehicle. Damage was estimated at $500. Further investigation revealed that a second vehicle was damaged at approximately 8:30 a.m. The damage consisted of a broken window which was estimated at $500.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 3:25 p.m., a resident of the 1400 block of Argonne in Forked River reported a car burglary. The complainant reported that during the three month period of September 23, 2013 through December 6, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked work vehicle and stole a camera valued at $550.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 7:57 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 block of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River for a motor vehicle accident (moving vehicle struck an unoccupied parked vehicle). Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 80-year-old Teresa Murray of Forked River, for DUI. Teresa Murray was transported to headquarters for processing then released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI. DUI Refusal, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. The vehicle being operated was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 8:00 p.m., while dealing with a motor vehicle accident on the 400 Block of Nautilus Boulevard in Forked River, Officer Michael Verwey arrested 78-year-old Frederick Wright of Forked River for DUI after he was located in a second (uninvolved) vehicle at the accident scene. Frederick Wright was transported to headquarters and processed. Frederick Wright was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving. The vehicle being operated was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 8:51 p.m., a resident of the 700 block of Amherst Road in Forked River reported criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 8:00 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., an unknown person or persons damaged candy-cane lights that were in the ground in front of the residence. Damage is estimated at $20.

  • Improper Business Practice (Formal Charge) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, Stella Li, owner/operator of the Green Spa at 445 Lacey Road in Forked River, was charged with violating the Lacey Township ordinance governing massage parlors. The ordinance has a same-gender requirement for massages when operating a massage parlor not in the office of a licensed physician, chiropractor, or a physical therapist. Since the spa operates independent of an office of a licensed physician, chiropractor, or physical therapist, it is a violation if a female massages a male client or a male massages a female client. The charge was served and is pending a court date.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 9:32 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 block of Barramore Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for a car burglary. The complainant reported that between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole property consisting of cash, a phone charger, and a knife. The total value of the property is estimated at $112.

  • Criminal Mischief (Auto) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at 9:38 p.m., a resident of the 1400 block of Jay Street in Forked River reported criminal mischief to a vehicle. The complainant reported that between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on December 20, 2013, an unknown person or persons caused approximately $1,500 in damage to a vehicle at the residence. The damage, consisting of a broken window and a dent, appeared to have been done by a pellet-gun.

  • Possession of Heroin & Marijuana (Arrests) – On Friday, December 20, 2013, at approximately 11:29 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of a passenger, identified as 18-year-old Michael W. Guarini of Forked River, for Possession of Heroin. An additional passenger, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Lanoka Harbor, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana. They were both transported to headquarters and processed.  Michael Guarini was later released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Heroin. The 17-year-old Juvenile was later released to his parent after being charged on a juvenile complaint with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 7:45 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Lake Barnegat Drive North in Forked River reported criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between the overnight hours of Friday, December 20, 2013, into Saturday, December 21, 2013, an unknown person or persons drove their vehicle onto the complainant’s newly paved driveway leaving embedded tire marks. The cost to repair the driveway was valued at approximately $500.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 7:08 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of Irons Street in Forked River reported a car burglary. The complainant reported that sometime during the overnight hours of Saturday, December 21, 2013 into December 22, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle and stole property valued at $28. The property was later located in the area. A second unlocked vehicle was entered at the residence, however, there did not appear to be anything missing.

  • Criminal Mischief (Residence) – On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 8:35 a.m., a resident of the 1500 block of Dee Road in Forked River reported criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between Sunday, December 15, 2013 and Saturday, December 21, 2013, an unknown person utilized a pellet gun to break a window on the residence. In addition, a light fixture was also damaged. Total damage is estimated at $75.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 11:32 a.m., a resident of the 300 block of Pine Forest Lane in Forked River reported a car burglary. The complainant reported that during the overnight hours of Saturday, December 21, 2013 into Sunday, December 22, 2013, an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked vehicle and stole an iPhone, MP3, and assorted change with a total valued of $280.

  • Burglary and Theft (Auto) – On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 3:54 p.m., a resident of the 300 block of Pine Forest Lane in Forked River reported. The resident reported that during the overnight hours, an unknown person entered the homeowner’s unlocked vehicle and stole property consisting of but not limited to loose change, a tire pressure gauge, a cell phone charger, medication, and glass cleaner, totaling approximately $56. Several of the items had been located around the neighborhood.

  • Warrant (Arrest) – On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 3:48 p.m., Officer Robert Flynn conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Alysha Manhat of Lanoka Harbor, on an outstanding Brick Township warrant in the amount of $500. She was transported to headquarters, processed by Officer Flynn, and then released on her own recognizance by the Brick Township Court.
