Weekly Police Blotter – Lacey Township Police – August 25th, 2016 through August 31, 2016

Warrant Arrest – On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 9:37 p.m., Officers George Resetar and Charlie May responded to the 800 block of Hazelton Avenue in Lanoka Harbor to serve an arrest warrant. Upon arrival the Officers met with 44-year-old Lorraine Schuster of Hazelton Avenue and arrested her on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued from the Lacey Township Municipal Court in the amount of $800.00. Lorraine Schuster was transported to police headquarters and processed. She was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

DUI Arrest– On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 1:20 a.m., Officer Christopher Meyler conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road near Harrison Avenue in Forked River.  Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of 20-year-old Anthony J. Amato of Cypress Street in Forked River for DUI.  He was transported to police headquarter and processed. Anthony J. Amato was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Unregistered Vehicle.  The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 6:19 p.m., Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 100 block of Caldwell Avenue in Forked River for a report of a burglary.  The victim reported that between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on August 30, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered her home and stole two (2) three-month old Siamese cats.  There were no signs of forced entry.

DUI and Obstructing the Administration of Law Arrest– On Monday, August 29, 2016, at 12:38 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Taylor Lane and Lakeside Drive South in Forked River.  Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of 26-year-old Nico Morgan of Saltspray Drive in Forked River for DUI and Obstructing the Administration of Law.  He was transported to police headquarters and processed.  Nico Morgan was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Reckless Driving, Following too Closely and Improper Passing.  In addition, he received a criminal summons for Obstructing the Administration of Law.  The vehicle Nico Morgan was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

CDS and DUI Arrest with Traffic Accident – On Monday, August 29, 2016 at 8:17 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 9 North near Bay Way in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of one of the drivers, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Alvarez of Nixon Avenue in Bayville, NJ for DUI.  In addition, he was found to be in possession of CDS. Christopher Alvarez was transported to police headquarters and processed.  He was released after receiving criminal summonses for Possession of CDS (Heroin), Possession of CDS (Heroin) with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Prescription Legend Drug, Possession of Marijuana 50 Grams or Less, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  In addition he received traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Improper Use of a Cell Phone.  The vehicle Christopher Alvarez was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI Arrest– On Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 3:44 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe responded to the intersection of Lake Barnegat Drive North and Stuyvesant Street in Forked River, for a report of a male driver passed out behind the steering wheel of a vehicle.  Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of 26-year-old Robert W. Finch, Jr., of Trenton Ave North in Forked River for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Robert W. Finch Jr., was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI and Reckless Driving.  The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI with Accident Arrest– On Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 8:45 p.m., Officer Michael Verwey responded to the area of Lacey Liquors located at 349 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a one-vehicle traffic accident (vehicle struck a tree in the parking lot). In addition, it was reported that the driver might be intoxicated. An investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of 53-year-old Dominic Lucci of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. Dominic Lucci was transported to police headquarters and processed.  He was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Driving while Suspended, and Uninsured Vehicle.  The vehicle Dominic Lucci was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI Arrest with Accident– On Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 4:47 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Daniel Ricciardella responded to a hit and run traffic accident in the area of Route 9 North and First Street in Lanoka Harbor.  A short time later the suspect vehicle was located near the intersection of East Haines Street and Cedarwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor. The driver, 26-year-old James P. Burns of Penn Place in Forked River, was arrested for DUI.  He was transported to police headquarters and processed.  James P. Burns was released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Accident, and Failure to Report a Traffic Accident. The vehicle James P. Burns was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

Theft- On Friday, August 26, 2016, at 3:27 p.m., Officer Martin Julian responded to the 600 block of Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River, for a report of a stolen bicycle.  The complainant stated that between 4:00 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. on August 26, 2016, an unknown person or persons stole his bicycle from the front yard of his residence.  The bicycle was described as a Fit Bike and is valued at $200.00.

Burglary and Theft (Residence) – On Friday, August 26, 2016, at 1:12 p.m., Officers Scott Anderson and Michael Baldasari responded to the 600 block of Bowsprit Point in Lanoka Harbor, for a report of a theft.  The victim reported that between 12:30 a.m. and 1:10 a.m., on August 26, 2016, an unknown person or persons entered his residence and stole $1800.00 in cash and his prescribed medication.  There were no signs of forced entry. The total theft is valued at $2000.00.

Shoplifting – On Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 4:10 p.m., Officer Charles May responded to the Walmart, located at 580 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, for a male shoplifter. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 41-year-old Brian R. Zartarian of Browning Avenue in Bayville, NJ, for shoplifting merchandise valued at $44.94. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Brian Zartarian was released after receiving a criminal summons for shoplifting.

Theft– On Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 8:10 a.m., Officer Michael Hein responded to the 900 block of Clifton Street in Forked River, for a report of a theft.  The victim reported that between 5:00 p.m. on August 24, 2016, and 6:00 a.m. on August 25, 2016, various tools were stolen from the bed of his pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway of his residence.  The tools were said to be in work bags and consisted of various 20 volt Dewalt drills and accessories. The tools were valued at $1,310.00.
