Weather Alert: (7 p.m. update) – The Lacey Township Police Department, in coordination with the Lacey Township Office of Emergency Management is continuing to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Hermine and the expected impact on our area. The National Weather Service has issued a tropical storm warning for the Ocean County area, today, September 4th, through tomorrow, September 5th, 2016.  Areas of concern are the low-lying areas east of Route 9 in Lacey Township. Tropical storm force winds have been downgraded with expected sustained winds of 15 to 30 mph, with wind gusts up to 45 mph tonight through Monday, mainly along the immediate coast and nearby inland communities. Winds are expected to diminish on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Generally minor flooding is expected with tonight’s high tide. Widespread moderate flooding is now expected with the Monday morning and the Monday evening high tides. Minor to moderate flooding is now possible with the Tuesday morning high tide.  All residents living in the low-lying affected areas may voluntarily park their vehicles in Gille Park, located at 102 Manchester Avenue in Forked River. All affected residents that wish to park their vehicles in Gille Park should park in the parking lot on the southernmost side, adjacent to the hockey rink. 

Residents are asked to check on their neighbors who may be vulnerable and advise the police department if any concerns arise. Chief Michael C. DiBella
