Attempted Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools (Arrest) – During the early morning hours of Monday, August 3, 2015, an unknown suspect attempted to forcibly enter the rear door of the Lacey Diner on Lacey Road in Forked River. Video footage recovered from the shopping plaza depicted a middle-aged, white male riding a bicycle in the area during the time of the attempted burglary.

On the afternoon of Monday, August 31, 2015, Lacey detectives conducted a field inquiry of a male cyclist matching the description of the suspect. Detectives identified the man as 57-year-old Alfred Oliveri of Oak Glen Road in Howell, New Jersey. The field inquiry led to his arrest for the attempted burglary of the Lacey Diner which occurred twenty-eight days prior. During his arrest, detectives discovered that Oliveri was also wanted in connection with several burglaries in Brick Township.

Alfred Oliveri was charged for the Lacey incident with Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. Alfred Oliveri was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail issued by the Brick Township Municipal Court for the Brick Township commercial burglaries. Oliveri was also wanted by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department for failing to comply with regulations set forth by Drug Court.

Although Alfred Oliveri is not from the area, Lacey detectives recognized him from an investigation conducted by the Lacey Township Police Department in 2004 which led to his arrest and charge for several other commercial burglaries.
